What does GIG war cover add-on NOT include?
What it doesn't cover:
- Third-party liability — this add-on covers only your own vehicle
- Damage from radioactive, nuclear, or atomic sources
- Goods carried for trade or business
- Airport or airside operations
- Any loss within, or within 500 metres of, a military base, defence site, or marine port
- Taxis, rental vehicles, and government or embassy-owned vehicles
Cover starts 48 hours after the add-on is bought — claims within that window aren't covered. Standard policy excess — what you pay first on a claim — still applies. This cover runs from purchase to the end of your policy period. It's non-cancellable and non-refundable once issued, and doesn't renew automatically — and needs to be added again at time of renewal.

How much does war cover cost for my car insurance?
War Cover costs 0.5% additional premium** on top of your comprehensive Motor policy — the exact amount depends on your vehicle value and the sum insured option you choose.
The add on can be added whether you're getting a new quote or adding it to an existing policy seamlessly.

How much am I covered for if I add war cover?
You can pick from three sum insured options:
- Up to your vehicle's full value (less standard depreciation)
- AED 100,000
- AED 50,000

How soon does war cover start working after I buy it?
Cover activates 48 hours after purchase — there's a mandatory waiting period before it takes effect. This is standard across the industry, so it's worth adding war cover before you think you might need it, not after.

Which cars can get war cover in the UAE?
War cover is available for private Saloon, Sedan, SUV, and 4WD vehicles insured under a comprehensive Motor policy — specifically Motor Prestige, Motor Perfect Plus, and Motor Perfect plans.
It's not available for taxis, commercial or public transport vehicles, rental cars, or government/embassy-owned vehicles.

Can I cancel war cover or get a refund if I don't need it anymore?
No — war cover is non-cancellable and non-refundable once issued. It also doesn't renew automatically, so you'll need to purchase it again at your policy's renewal if you want to keep it.

Does war cover apply if I drive outside the UAE?
No — war cover is limited to the United Arab Emirates. If your vehicle
is damaged by a war-related event outside the UAE, this add-on won't cover it.
